Locations: Downtown Stillwater, St. Croix Boom Site, and Nature Preserve
This was definitely one of my favorite senior sessions ever! I got so excited when Megan sent over her Pinterest board because she had water pics on it! I've always wanted to do a session in the water and it was a blast :) Her board was a good mix of city boho and city vibes with lots of big fields, flowers, and rivers, but also brick walls, city streets, and staircases. Stillwater literally has all of this within a 10 minute radius, so it was the perfect location.
We started at Valley View Park just south of the city to get some gorgeous pictures in the fields with the long grass. I brought along a wooden stool and some baby's breath flowers to for props to add to the boho vibes. We then went to downtown Stillwater to get pictures with a more urban feel. Some of the pictures on her Pinterest board had more of an editorial feel with harsh direct light so we tried to recreate that on a cute staircase we found. Stillwater also has lots of great brick walls and colorful doors for backdrops. She had seen pictures from a previous session I did here and was excited to get some pictures of her own in front of the pink door.
Our last spot was the St. Croix Boom site. Megan was all for getting in the water to get some dreamy golden hour pictures in her white dress. I should have planned a little better for myself and brought my own towel because I also got pretty soaked lol.
Stillwater is one of my favorite spots for a senior session because there is such a great variety of locations all very close to each other. Just a little over 30 minutes outside of the Twin Cities, it is also a convenient spot for most people in the surrounding suburbs.
